What to Bring Fishing in Daytona

 ·  By Captain Brad

First time on a fishing charter? Don't stress — I've got you covered. Here's exactly what to bring to make sure you have a comfortable, fun, and successful day on the water in Daytona Beach.

The Essentials

  • Sunscreen (SPF 50+) — The Florida sun is intense on the water. Apply before you leave the dock and bring extra to reapply.
  • Polarized sunglasses — Protect your eyes and help you see fish in the water.
  • Hat with a brim — A wide-brim hat or baseball cap provides essential sun protection.
  • Closed-toe shoes — Required for safety on the boat. No flip-flops.
  • Water — Stay hydrated. Bring at least 2 bottles per person.
  • Snacks — Light snacks like granola bars, crackers, and fruit are ideal. Avoid heavy, greasy foods if you're prone to seasickness.

Seasickness Prevention

If you're prone to motion sickness, take Dramamine or Bonine the night before and the morning of your trip. Sea-Bands (acupressure wristbands) are also effective for many people. Avoid alcohol the night before, eat a light breakfast, and stay on deck in fresh air — don't go below if you feel queasy.

What's Provided on the Charter

  • All fishing tackle, rods, and reels
  • Bait (live and cut)
  • Ice for your catch
  • Fish cleaning at the dock
  • Life jackets and safety equipment

Florida Fishing License

Anglers 16 and older are required to have a valid Florida saltwater fishing license. You can purchase one online at myfwc.com before your trip. Captain Brad can advise on the correct license type for your charter.
